Biological Sex used for Devine formula calculation
Body Frame Size

Frame size adjusts the ideal weight range by +/-10%

Enter your height above to calculate your ideal body weight range.

This calculator uses the Devine formula (1974), which is widely used in clinical settings:

Male: IBW (kg) = 50 + 2.3 x (height_inches - 60)
Female: IBW (kg) = 45.5 + 2.3 x (height_inches - 60)

The result is then adjusted by +/-10% to account for body frame size, giving you a realistic range rather than a single number.

Other formulas exist - the Hamwi, Robinson, and Miller formulas each produce slightly different results. The Devine formula remains the most widely cited. All are estimates and should be interpreted alongside other health markers.

Focus on the trend, not the number. For people managing diabetes, achieving even a modest reduction toward a healthier weight can significantly improve insulin sensitivity, blood glucose control, and cardiovascular risk.
